Zombie Land Saga Revenge (ゾンビランドサガ リベンジ, Zonbirando Saga Ribenji), or simply Season 2, is the second season of the Zombie Land Saga anime. It premiered on April 8, 2021, ^[2] and concluded on June 24, 2021, with a total of twelve episodes.

Its English dub made its debut on July 15, 2021, with a new episode premiering every two weeks.

Synopsis[]

“An idol animation with a new meaning, where legendary girls revived as zombies through space-time save the Saga Prefecture as idols.”

Gathered from several different eras, a group of legendary girls have become zombie idols to save Saga Prefecture. The return of this groundbreaking zombie idol anime!

One day, Sakura Minamoto loses her life in an unfortunate accident. Ten years later, Sakura awakens in a strange mansion, where producer Kotaro Tatsumi explains that she will join a group of legendary girls to form an idol group. The seven girls were given the mission to save Saga prefecture as Franchouchou, and after overcoming the difficulties generated by being of different ages and eras in history, their undead zombie bodies allowed them to challenge all the limits of what an idol can be. During the final winter of the Heisei era, they held their first concert at the Karatsu Arpino, taking another step towards becoming legends. Now, in the modern Reiwa era, the curtain rises on a new chapter in Franchouchou's history as they move toward a bright, hope-filled future.^[3]

Season overview[]

In March 2019, Franchouchou failed to sell enough tickets for their concert in the Ekimae Fudosan Stadium and incurred a huge debt. Kotaro was depressed about the failure of the project every day, while the members worked hard to pay off their debts. However, Franchouchou decides to return to sing on stage. Kotaro is made to reconsider by Jofuku about his plan and appears at Franchouchou's concert and confronts the locals to let his idols sing.

Franchouchou, who resumed their activities on a large scale with the return of Kotaro, worked one after another in radio, television, and concerts, and by raising their name, each girl acquired a certain skill. The only problem was the huge debt, which was solved by the luck of Tae. A year after the failure, the girls from Franchouchou and Kotaro decide to take revenge again in the large stadium. Immediately after that, however, a local storm struck Saga, causing an unprecedented catastrophe. Franchouchou, who lost their home, moves to a shelter, where they spend their days performing live shows for refugees. A few days after the disaster, it happened that the makeup fell off, and the audience could see the real appearance of the girls, but Kotaro finally joined the girls who managed to hide their true identity from people. After receiving Kotaro's words, “We will definitely have a live revenge”, they begin to move towards the stadium again.

On March 8, 2020, a large number of spectators came to the Franchouchou concert, which was receiving a lot of attention globally due to the efforts of various people. The venue, which was completely empty a year ago, was packed with spectators, and Franchouchou managed to get revenge live. The concert ended with an excited crowd.

At a later date. Saga Prefecture was destroyed in an explosion by the light emitted by a mysterious flying object that suddenly appeared in the sky.

Trivia[]

• The first promotional poster for the season has a color theme of blue, however, the recent poster has a color theme of orange, and both are completely opposite in the color circle.
• The original PV uploaded to the Avex Pictures channel underwent an audio edit two months after its publication, changing the Soundtrack slightly and revealing the final OST of the anime. In fact, the trailer released by Crunchyroll has the original audio of the video.
  • They also edited the final part of the video adding the release date for April 8, these changes were made after the February 27 event. In this event, another part of the OST was also revealed that was later edited within the trailer.
• The scene wherein a disheveled Kotaro raises his arms to the sky by a cliffside with roaring waves in the thirteenth episode is reminiscent of the official poster for the second season, with the only difference being that his hair was not as long in the official poster as to avoid spoilers.
• “Episode 21” is the first episode of the series to showcase bloodshed. Specifically, during the scene wherein Shojiro Ito kills off Kiichi Momozaki’s men.
  • “Episode 24” is the second episode to showcase blood. In this episode’s case, it was Kotaro coughing up blood as a sign of Saga’s Curse catching up to his immune system.
• This is so far the first and only season to have its respective ending theme played the least number of times during the end credits.
• As of 2022, the songs of this season haven't been dubbed since Season 1.
